Ahhh, We are always striving to get healthy, stay healthy and live healthy. Well in the pursuit of healthy living my wonderful fiance Jamie a.k.a JStarr and I was chatting up one of my boys who just lost 18lbs in 10 days after being inspired by a documentary called Fat, Bloated and I Can't See My Feet! Wait, or was it Fat, Sleepy, and my Budda Belly is Crushing My Soul?!? No... I kid, its Fat Sick and Nearly Dead which by the way is a an excellent documentary by Joe Cross that I highly recommend. Well, long story short, after we got home from chatting with Adam his lady, the fabulous Xasha we sat down and watched the documentary by ourselves. HOOK, LINE, GOTCHA SUCCCA!! The next week, we were shopping for Juicers and getting ready to make the plunge ourselves. This blog will chronicle our journey through the next 10 days. Why 10 days...well 11 would be one damn day too many and I'm freaking starving right now. More on that later. In all seriousness, Jamie and I decided to Reboot our Bodies. If you can imagine all of the processed foods we shovel into our bodies on a daily basis, there is no reason why we feel like crap all the time. Sooo how bad could this Rebooting Your Body actually be?!? Wait, what the hell is Rebooting your Body in the first place?!? Well if you haven't clicked on the link from the last sentence, I will give you the cliff notes version of it and then you can go back to the link and really dig deeper into it if you find it interesting. Basically for 10 days you eat nothing but whole fruits and veggies. I mean NOTHING but fruits and veggies. Oh and you don't actually eat them, you juice them and drink the juice. Well that isn't really true because some reboot programs allow you to eat the raw veggies and fruits a couple days before juicing and a couple days after juicing to get your body acclimated to the change. Heck, Screw that...We are going in FULL TILT BABY!!! So fruits and veggies, 3 to 4 times a day and lots of water. At least 16 to 32oz of water. This forces the body to detox and get rid of all of the bad fuel and crap that has been running it down, then revitalizes it with this new found natural and organic energy. Plus you feel great, think more clearly and it even helps the skin, nails and hair. Let's go Ladies!! Wait...What?!? Not A Good Enough Reason to put the Happy Meal, 2 Whoppers and Chili Fries down? Hmm Ok chew on these nuggets of facts: There are 170 phytonutrients in just one orange. To date, there are thousands of micronutrient phytonutrients that have been identified in plants, such as carotenes, antioxidants, and flavonoids. Often we hear that the vitamin C in an orange is responsible for its immune-boosting properties, but there are actually over 170 known phytonutrients in just one orange. The power of fruits and vegetables is bigger than we know.
Something in there HAS to stir the soul. Well out of the names you can make out anyways! Flavonoids is actually a WORD?!? Trust me...its a good thing! Let me put in a quick disclaimer that ummm...by now you should know that we are no experts in this field, hell we aren't even novice so if you are gonna take this journey be sure to check with your physician before joining the fun. We are the everyday Joe and Jan who are trying to get a bit healthier and be nice and fit for our wedding in April. (CAN't WAIT BABY!!!) Lets face it, I can't have a stunning wife walking down the aisle and see me standing in front of a wheel barrow with my tummy resting nicely in it. Talk about BUZZKILL! Ok I digress. (Disclaimer #2.....I will digress a whole lot cuz well, I ramble! Don't Judge Me!!) Ok the legal stuff is out of the way and now we can begin. Pre-Day 1
Doesn't Look Like Much Does it. Well that got us through all of Day 1 with some spill over for Day 2. What We Bought broken down by Meals. Breakfast:
Lunch & Dinner:
So we began our juicing extravaganza and we were off to the races. Juicing was surprisingly easy and the Cuisinart worked like a charm. Its very easy to clean, the pulp was left pretty dry and we got those two jugs filled with Nature's Goodness! We Juiced the fruits and veggies separately and partook of some of the veggie juice for dinner to pre-kick things off. The flavor was actually pretty good and word to the wise...for you SPICE LOVERS out there...you only need one jalapeno per juicing session, cuz we found out the hard way that two is just one too many! WOW! We have a video of our first juicing session and we are awaiting the legal team (my fiance) for clearance before we post it up for everyone to see. Pre Day 1 is now over. We have tasted the fruits of our labor and now we rest and get really ready for the big day tomorrow. Reboot Kickoff - Day 1. Our meals are already made for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. How sweet is that!
